Change how alerts look and sound

Pick sounds and alert styles so you notice the messages that matter.

Turn notification sounds on or off for all chats, set a sound for one chat, and choose your message and call tones.

Start here

iPhone

  1. Tap the ☰ Burger Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Turn Notification sounds on or off.

Android

  1. Tap the ☰ Burger Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Turn Notification sounds on or off.

Web

  1. On the Home screen Dashboard, click ☰.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the upper right.
  3. Turn Notification Sounds on or off.

Set the sound for one chat

iPhone

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Tap the person's name or group name at the top.
  3. Tap Notification Sound.

Android

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Tap the person's name or group name at the top.
  3. Tap Notification Sound.

Web

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Click the person's name or group name at the top.
  3. Click Group Settings.
  4. Turn Notification Sounds on or off.

Choose your message sound and ringtone

iPhone

  1. Tap the ☰ Burger Menu.
  2. Tap Manage Profile.
  3. Scroll down to Notification Sound for messages, or Ringtone Tune for calls.

Android

  1. Tap the ☰ Burger Menu.
  2. Tap Manage Profile.
  3. Scroll down to Notification Sound for messages, or Ringtone Tune for calls.

Turn the sending sound on or off

iPhone

  1. Tap the ☰ Burger Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Turn Sending Message Sounds on or off.

Android

  1. Tap the ☰ Burger Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Turn Sending Message Sounds on or off.

Web

  1. On the Home screen Dashboard, click ☰.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the upper right.
  3. Turn the sound for sending messages on or off.

  1. On the Home screen Dashboard, click the Settings icon in the upper right.
  2. Scroll down to On-Screen Notifications.
  3. Turn the in-app banners on or off.

Change alert styles on your phone

On iPhone

iPhone

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and tap Buzz.
  3. Choose your alert options.
  • Phone alert options include Allow Notifications, Sounds, Show on Lock Screen, Show in History, Banners and Show Previews.
  • Set Banners to Persistent to keep alerts on screen until you act on them, or Temporary to let them disappear.
  • The sound for STAT messages is set by your organization admin.
