Perfect for use on the wards By Alice V. Cheuk, M.D.

Griffith's 5-Minute Clinical Consult for PDA is an excellent resource that all practitioners should have on their hand-held devices.
It is perfect for use on the wards and on call when you need a resource that's quick and to the point, yet still detailed enough to be fairly comprehensive.
Every topic is organized the same way, starting with a brief description, epidemiology, sign/symptoms, and going through causes, diagnosis, and treatment, including medications with dosing. Information is presented in list format, making things easy to find. Some topics even include full color pictures. Subjects are organized in a Table of Contents under organ systems; topics can also be searched for in a Main Index. The program is extremely easy to navigate with clearly labeled buttons, and the program can be linked to other Skyscape PDA programs.

A solid PDA medical data base that is easy and intuitive to use. Consider me a Skyscape believer. By William Hamlin

I have had the opportunity to use the Skyscape product 5 Minute Clinical Consult through several iterations now. It continues to improve and provide more information on more conditions with each year. It is a pleasure to use such a comprehensive, up to date and interesting reference as 5MCC.

I am a Registered Nurse who works with a group of Pulmonary Physicians both in a office setting and in following our patients in several hospitals. I am pretty well grounded in the pulmonary stuff, but there is certainly a lot out there that I don't know, and when I run into this situation, 5 Minute Clinical Consult is one of the first things that I use. Many times I have been able to get a quick grounding in a subject or topic that I have heard of, but of which I had no real first hand knowledge; 5MCC provided me with the essentials in a quick and concise manner. When you consider that I can link between 5MCC and other Skyscape products, such as DrDrugs, the Washington Manual and so on, it becomes apparent that in my pocket I have a reference library second to none.

Not only am I able to review, refresh and obtain information about various conditions, but the layout and links make 5MCC an excellent teaching tool at the bedside for patients and my colleagues. More than once I have been able to provide information on a timely basis that helped explain to a patient why the physicians were doing such and so, why this drug was being used, why this test was being ordered and so on. 5 Minute Clinical Consult provides for me the ability to answer questions and address patient concerns in a timely manner. The information provided by 5MCC is relevant and well referenced. The clinical content of this program is concise and full of practical information.

It is well known that textbooks are usually outdated shortly after they are printed, if not before. 5 Minute Clinical Consult is as current as they come, and with the updates available on a timely basis, remains as current as they come. Not to mention, but I will, that textbooks have a tendency to be a little bulky, shall we say, and not nearly as user friendly as a small program on a Palm device. Textbooks also have a tendency to be borrowed and not available when you want them, and neither of these statements apply to 5 Minute Clinical Consult. This small program is ideal when you consider it's purpose-to be used on the go. When I look through the text, I am able to rapidly find information, get relevant data and make better-educated decisions. Indexes and hyperlinks bring it to a whole new level of efficiency. Usually after a major effort looking through a traditional text or journal, I am able to cull a few useable tidbits that almost relate to whatever question or condition that I am interested in. And it is pretty clear that I am not reading that traditional text or journal anywhere near the actual patient... Not so with 5 Minute Clinical Consult. It's information is immediately available and at the point of patient contact. And I can pose better-educated questions to my docs and other members of the health care team. This text is continuously revised and updated and covers a vast array of subjects, yet remains affordable.

The program runs smoothly on my device and the graphics and links make it a breeze to use. It is an excellent point of contact reference for any busy clinician. This is laid out in a very functional manner, and the indexing is very useful. A solid PDA medical data base that is easy and intuitive to use. Consider me a Skyscape believer.
