The telehealth visit that starts with a text message

BuzzVideo is the video call built into Buzz. The clinician sends a secure link by text or email. The patient taps it, and the visit opens in the browser already on their phone.

Nothing to install. No account to create. No password to reset at the start of a visit. The people who most need a video visit are the people least likely to get through an app store, so BuzzVideo asks nothing of them but a tap.

Shown above: the text message the patient receives, and the browser video visit it opens. With JavaScript enabled this demonstration steps through it and lets you add participants.

Kestrel Hollow is a demonstration agency and the patient is invented. The link shown is not a real address and nothing here places a call.

The problem

Patients give up before the visit starts.

The standard video tool asks an eighty-four-year-old to find an app store, remember an account password, accept an update and grant two permissions, all before anyone says hello. Half the time the visit becomes a phone call to the daughter, who talks her mother through the install.

That friction lands hardest exactly where video would help most: care at home, behavioral health between appointments, and the families coordinating from another state.

How it works

Send. Tap. Talk.

The clinician stays in Buzz. The patient never leaves the phone they already know how to use.

1 · Send

A link by text or email

From the patient's care thread, the clinician sends a secure link to the patient, a family member or anyone else the care team has approved. Buzz calls this a BuzzLink, and it is how people without a Buzz account reach the care team.

2 · Tap

It opens in their browser

One tap and the visit is on screen. Patients and family members do not download an app or create an account to take part. It works from a smartphone or from a computer.

3 · Talk

Bring in whoever is needed

A visit can be one patient and one clinician, or several parties at once: the daughter in another state, an interpreter, a specialist. Each one joins from a link, the same way the patient did.

What agencies use it for

Telehealth is the outcome. This is the part that makes it happen.

BuzzVideo is a module of Buzz. Telehealth is what your agency gets out of it, and what your patients and payers call it.

Care at home

Built for the patient who will not install anything

Home-bound patients and their caregivers get to the visit with one tap, from whatever phone is on the table. No app store, no account, no password reset while a clinician waits.

Intake

Assessments that do not need a drive

Behavioral health and home health teams run intake and assessment visits by video, so the first contact happens when the patient is ready rather than when a route has an opening.

Families

The adult child two states away

The person who makes the decisions is often not in the room. Add them to the visit and the conversation happens once, with everyone hearing the same thing.

On the call

Interpreters and pharmacists, on the fly

Approved participants can be brought into a call while it is running: patients, family members, clinicians, care teams and other approved people.

In one place

The same thread as everything else

The video visit sits beside the messaging, the documents and the calls for that patient, so the team is not stitching a visit together across three products.

Any device

When the patient has no smartphone

A smartphone is not the only way in. The visit opens in any browser, so a computer or a tablet works too, and a family member on a plain phone line can be added to the call from anywhere. For a patient who has only a landline, BuzzPhone reaches them on it directly.

Safety and privacy

A visit is a clinical encounter. It is handled like one.

Getting started

Start with the ten follow-ups that did not need a drive.

Pick ten visits that could have happened without anyone getting in a car and run them through BuzzVideo instead. Two things are worth counting afterwards: how many patients got on the call unaided, and how many windshield hours came back.

  • VisitsTen follow-ups, chosen by the clinicians who drive them.
  • PatientsWhatever phone they already own. Nothing to install.
  • MeasureHow many joined on the first try, without a family member helping.
  • TermsMonthly, quarterly or annual, whichever suits the way your agency budgets. You are never locked in against your will, and the notice period is 60 days.

Questions agencies ask

Does the patient need to install Buzz?

No. The patient gets a text message or an email from the clinician and taps the link to join the visit. There is nothing to download and no account to create.

What devices does it work on?

A clinician can start a visit from an iPhone or iPad, an Android device, or a browser on a computer. A patient can join from a smartphone or from a computer.

Can more than two people be on a call?

Yes. A visit can include the patient, family members, clinicians, the wider care team and other approved participants, as a single call or as a group.

Can we add someone after the visit has started?

Yes. A participant who is needed partway through, such as an interpreter or a family member, joins from a link the same way the patient did.

What if the patient only has a landline?

The visit opens in a browser, so any computer or tablet with an internet connection works. Send the link to the patient's email address, or to a family member's. A family member on a plain phone line can also be added to the visit from anywhere and heard by everyone on the call.

For a patient who has only a landline, BuzzPhone is the better fit. Agency staff call them on it from inside Buzz, and there is nothing for the patient to install.

Are visits recorded?

The visit data is recorded in Buzz. Recording the video itself is a separate decision, governed by your organization's policy and by the regulations in your state, so it is your agency's call rather than a default we set.

Do we still need a separate video product?

For visits that run through Buzz, no. The video call sits in the same platform as the messaging, documents and phone calls for that patient, which is the point: one place, one login, one thread.

Is a video visit reimbursable for our setting?

That depends on your payers, your state and the service, and it changes year to year, so your billing lead is the right person to answer it. What BuzzVideo settles is the part under your control: whether the patient can actually get on the call.

What does it cost?

Per user, per month, at about the price of a venti latte at the airport. Book a demo and we will put a number against your headcount on the call.
