NOTE: These instructions are for Pocket PC builds released after 6/27/2006 for Windows Smartphone compatibility.
NOTE: If you get a message that the data file is not found after going through these instructions, updated the dll files as outlined here: http://www.skyscape.com/support/ShowFAQ.aspx?kbid=90&cid=12
Install CAB files manually using the steps below.
Section I: Install the Reader Files
- Soft reset the device.
- Connect the pocket pc.
- Remove any residual files from previous installation attempts
- From the device, click Start | Settings | System | Remove Programs
- Go to Start | Programs | File Explorer and check for any folders from the program.
- Delete if any are present.
- On the desktop PC, go to C:\Skyscape\<Program Name>Ce (ex. Tabers20ce)\Version No.\Install
- Here you will only see two reader cab files. Select the file name SetupReaderPOC.arm.cab for a Pocket PC and the SetupReaderWSP.arm.cab for the SmartPhone. Right click on the correct file and select copy.
- On the desktop PC, open ActiveSync.
- Click Explore.
- Double click on My Windows Mobile-Based Device and then double click on the SD card folder.
- Click Edit and then Paste
- Go back to the device and tap on Start | Programs | File Explorer.
- Tap on the SD Card folder and you will see the SetupReaderPOC.arm.cab file that you just copied over.
- Tap on the CAB file and you will be asked to select the installation location and install the files.
- This will make the icon appear however tapping on it will result in the error message "data files not found" Proceed to the next section to install the data files.
Section II: Install the Data files
- On a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, the data files need to be copied into the same location as the Reader file that was installed in the first section. You have to locate this reader file first to be certain of it's installation location. On the device tap on Start | Programs | File Explorer | SD Card (if installed to this location) | Program Files | Skyscape | <Program Name> (i.e. Tabers20) and confirm that you see the file name there. It will be shown as the product name.
- On the desktop PC, go to C:\Skyscape\<Program Name>Ce (ex. Tabers20ce)\Version No.\ Install\Data Files
- Select all of the files here, right click and select copy.
- On the desktop PC, open ActiveSync.
- Click Explore.
- Double click on My Windows Mobile-Based Device
- Follow the same path to the exe file (i.e. SD Card | Program Files | Skyscape | Tabers20)
- Click Edit and then Paste
- Test the program
