Chief Family Practice Resident, Rochester
Most of my experience with PDA references have been with the 5 Minute Clinical Consult and the Washington Manual. I have found the Little Black Book to be similar in usability to the 5 Minute Clinical Consult, but I appreciate the short concise pathophysiology references much more in the Little Black Book. I also appreciate how the Index will cross reference information from larger topics. Just last week in the precepting room, a resident on labor and delivery called the preceptor because she could not remember the TORCH infections in pregnancy. Typing in TORCH in the index sent me to a topic on Neonatal Jaundice and I had the answer before two attendees could find it in two other text books.
I use the Little Black Book daily on rounds and find it the quickest reference I have ever used.
