Sandeep Shah, President and CEO

Sandeep brings a rare combination of attributes to Skyscape: technical know-how and far-reaching vision. He has worked for 20 years to break new ground in hardware and software development, and to pioneer applications for intelligent handheld devices. Sandeep led the team that produced the world's first truly usable handheld solution for physicians - an intelligent tool providing healthcare professionals with virtually all the reference information needed for diagnosis. From that landmark achievement, Sandeep has developed a full spectrum of handheld healthcare solutions.

Before focusing on handheld devices, Sandeep was extensively involved with operating system kernels, networking and massively parallel computers. His extensive work experience involves working with Apple, Microsoft, Digital, Logica (UK), Hitachi and Wang. His passion remains the synergistic user interfaces between humans and computing. Practicing his belief in the power of information shared, Sandeep is active in the handheld community through seminars, panel discussions, training programs and conferences.

Sandeep earned an M.S. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India.

Kartik Shah, Vice President, Engineering & Operations

Kartik is a founding partner of Skyscape and brings more than 19 years experience in cutting-edge technology development to Skyscape's engineering initiatives. His demonstrated leadership ability and deep technical expertise in LAN, WAN, Wireless, databases, and the Internet naturally position him to lead the development and implementation of Skyscape's handheld and wireless programs.

Before joining Skyscape, Kartik served at Cornerstone Software as Vice President of Software Development. In that role, he was a key player in the development and deployment of the Company's key middleware software products, including Piccolo and Remote Server Call (RSC). These products offered by Compaq Computers are in use at major corporations and institutions around the globe. As a consulting engineer, Kartik helped develop key software solutions for several major CSI clients.

Kartik earned his M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute (VJTI), Bombay and has completed advanced management courses offered by the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.

John Ryder, Vice President, Sales

John Ryder brings over 20 years of executive management experience within the life sciences industry to Skyscape with particular expertise in sales, marketing and business development.

Prior to joining Skyscape, John served as vice president of sales and marketing for Advanced Instruments, Inc., a life science instrument manufacturer where he helped grow revenues from less than $10 million to more than $21 million in five years. In addition, John improved top line revenues through building a world-class global distribution network, which expanded its sales and support services into over 85 countries.

John has also served in senior management positions in Omega Engineering and Almac Plastics, Inc. In each case, John helped the companies significantly increase revenues and penetrate new growth markets with their core technologies and products, including several key acquisitions. John has also held sales executive positions at Baxter Healthcare, Curtin Matheson Scientific and Becton Dickinson.

John has a B.S. in Health Science Education from Springfield College.

Grant Fraser, M.D., Vice President of Clinical Solutions

Grant's rare combination of medical and technical background plays a key role in helping Skyscape extend its leadership position in the clinical decision support market for healthcare professionals. His extensive knowledge and expertise of programming, statistical and clinical medicine make him ideally suited for this critical position.

Prior to joining Skyscape, Fraser practiced Emergency Medicine in California and Texas before settling down in Bradenton, Florida, where he continued to develop solutions for clinicians. He previously served as CEO for Medical Wizards Corporation, a mobile clinical tools company, and Chief Medical Officer for Icegen.net and DigitalPatientEducator.com. Fraser currently serves as a Member of Pharmaceutical Publications Advisory Board, FA Davis Co, for Davis's Drug Guide. Grant also serves a clinical instructor in Emergency Medicine for LECOM (Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine).

Fraser earned his BA and MD from the University of California, where he was awarded The Joseph Stokes Award for Excellence in Medical Student Research.

Jaap Vermeulen, Principal Software Architect

With more than 19 years of experience in software engineering, Jaap has been instrumental in the development of Skyscape software technology. A member of the Skyscape team since its earliest days, Jaap has brought his extensive knowledge of software architecture and design to bear for Skyscape's products.

Jaap previously worked for Hitachi Computer Products, Informix Software, and Sequent Computer Systems. He worked on a variety of products, including a backup manager, a Java application server, a CORBA performance framework, and a systems management framework.

A graduate of the Hogeschool Oost Nederland Institute of Technology in The Netherlands, Jaap earned a B.S. in computer science. He did his thesis work at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
