Buzz adds an organizational security layer above message encryption
Encryption protects what is said. The Buzz organizational layer decides who can be part of the conversation in the first place. Agencies now control membership, roles and what outside participants can do, organization by organization.
Marlborough, Mass. · July 12, 2023 — Skyscape today announced the Buzz organizational layer, agency-controlled governance that sits above the encryption already protecting every Buzz conversation.
The problem it solves
Strong encryption answers one question: can anyone outside the conversation read it? Agencies have a second question that encryption cannot answer: who should be in the conversation at all? Per diem staff, contractors, physicians outside the agency and family members all need to be reached, and none of them should see everything a full-time case manager sees.
What is now available
- An organization boundary. Every agency is its own organization in Buzz. Staff see colleagues and groups inside it, and cannot browse other organizations.
- Roles with different reach. Full members, associates for field, temporary or ancillary staff, and external participants reached by link each get a different set of permissions. Associates cannot create groups, forward messages or open private side channels.
- Structural guardrails. When a full member starts a one-to-one with an associate, Buzz makes it a group so the conversation stays visible to the organization.
- Administrator control. Organization administrators manage who joins, which groups they see, and organization-wide settings such as limits on @all.
The workflow it streamlines
Agencies can bring contractors and outside clinicians into care coordination without a separate tool and without giving them the whole agency. Compliance officers and administrators welcome it as a big time saver, because access follows the role instead of being set person by person.
