Q: Cannot Install Using Desktop Internet Although Blackberry Is Connected to the USB Port on Desktop
A: The Blackberry Desktop Manager shows the device is connected, but the Skyscape Installation does not recognize this. You see the following messages during the installation:
"Because there is no desktop connection, the Skyscape resources will be retrieved over your wrirelss connection. Your carrier may charge you for data transfers."
If you Choose Download - you then see this error:
"Cannot download Tabers;s Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary, 21.e; java.io.IOException: No USB connectioon and carrier restricts size over HTTP connection (error 403)."
Resolution: The reason for this is because the installation of the Skyscape Blackberry Reader was not done using the desktop you are trying to install from. Go to Task Manager (CTRL ALT DEL) and you should see a process called SkyscapeBBDM.exe. If this is not there then you will get the above error. To install this process you will need to install the Skyscape Blackberry Reader on this device from this computer. You do not need to remove the reader first, just run the installation from My Products once you login to your account or use the link below:

If you do see SkyscapeBBDM.exe in Task Manager there is another resolution:
- Verify the Firewall is Disabled on the Blackberry - Settings | Options | Security Options | Firewall
- On the Blackberry, verify USB Box is checked in My Skyscape | Settings | Download Tab
- Stop/Close the Blackberry Desktop Manager
- Delete (end process) using Task Manager for both SkyscapeBBDM.exe and BbDevMgr.exe
- Restart these processes by going to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Skyscape\Blackberry - Double-Click SkyscapeBBDM.exe and it will start both processes
- Connect the Blackberry to the Desktop Computer USB Port
