Q:
Issue: When I try to install a program to my BlackBerry, I get an error message that says that there is not enough memory available even though a memory card is present with plenty of space available. When I try to check the memory card space, I see a message that says "Mass Storage Unavailable".
Cause:
When you connect your device to the desktop, you have the option to "mount" the memory card on the desktop. If you say yes, memory card becomes accessible on the Windows desktop as a drive letter (a removable disk drive). The problem is that when the memory card is mounted like this it will become INACCESSIBLE for any application on the BlackBerry device.
A:
Resolution: Disconnect your card from your desktop as a removable device.
Disconnect and then reconnect your BlackBerry device.
When asked if you want to mount your memory card, say "NO" to this option.
While still connected to your desktop, go back to the Skyscape reader on your device and attempt your installation again.
NOTE: It is possible that you have set your card to automatically mount as a removable drive. If so, you will not see this message in order to select "NO". If that is the case, then you will have to change the card settings from your device.
On your device go to Options | Advanced Options | Media Card.
Look for the option that says "Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected". You will have three options here: Yes, No, or Prompt.
If you have it set to automatically mount, this option will be set to "Yes". Change it to "No" or "Prompt" in order to get your programs installed and then you can return and reset your card to do what you prefer.
